Stamp medium?

From: eyeseedgeo (eyeseedgeo@yahoo.com) | Date: 2006-11-04 20:33:15 UTC
Hello all.
I am new here. Hunted my first LBs this week.
Took the boys out today on a hunt. They are hooked.
I am in search of 2X2 material to carve stamps from. I have found
Factis erasers at the craft store... work well and I did a nice job on
my first few trys...Can't seem to find larger pieces.
I am in the Chicago North/Northwest suburbs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
TY

Hi there!

Welcome to this fun hobby! I don't know that you will find the exact
size that you want, but Hobby Lobby carries Speedy Stamp (pink stuff)
in a 3x4 (I think) sheet. It is easy to cut into whatever size you
need.

Since you are new, have you joined the newboxers group?
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/newboxers/ People there are very
receptive to all questions.

I live in NW Indiana and hope to see you at a gathering sometime in the
future.

If you go to their web site, they have % off Internet coupons. This
week it was 40% any reg price item. Oh, I learned the hard way, the
product TG was talking about, is NOT located in the stamping section
of Hobby Lobby (my Newbie error!) Ours is in the silk screening
area. It took 6 employees to figure that one out! We're down in
Joliet. Hope to see you out on the trails.

Actually, at the Hobby Lobby in Merrillville, IN, the Speedy Stamp
and all of the lino cutters are in the aisle with the wood models.
You may have to look around a bit to find them.

The Hobby Lobby in Bridgeview/Burbank area and in Orland, carry the pink speedball medium in a 4 x 6 sheet and then a beige color, a little thicker medium, in a 8 x 10 sheet, and they also have small 3 x 5 white medium as well.

And if you don't mind online shopping, I have the Staedtler 2.5 x 2.5 inch
blocks at Stampeaz.com, along with a number of other sizes and shapes. :)

The Hobby Lobby in St. Louis doesn't seem to have ANY stamp carving
stuff! I think each location is going to have slightly different
stock. I have better luck at the two art supply stores in the area.
And don't forget to shop on-line!
